I'm pleased to announce the publication of newest strategic management case study, Costco Wholesale Club: The Gas Station Strategy. The case explores the company's business model and the decision to open its first standalone gas station in the nation. The case study also examines the psychological principles at play when people shop at Costco. The case study was published by the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan.

New Case Study: Savannah Bananas
I am pleased to announce the publication of my latest case study: Savannah Bananas: Growing the Greatest Show in Baseball. The case study offers valuable lessons in competitive strategy as well as design thinking/user experience. Explore how and why the Bananas have been so successful, as well as why MLB has been slow to adapt over the past few decades. The case study is available through the University of Michigan, and soon it will be distributed through Harvard Business Publishing as well.

New Case Study: Planet Fitness
I've published my latest case study, Planet Fitness: No Judgements, No Lunks, through the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan. The case is available now by clicking here, and it will be available through Harvard Business Publishing very soon. The Planet Fitness case study addresses issues of competitive strategy including the topics of industry analysis, competitive positioning, and the sustainability of competitive advantage as well as franchising vs. vertical integration.

New Case Study Published
Professor Roger Anderson and I have published a new case study titled, "Belmont Abbey College: Strategy Formulation in Turbulent Times." The case is available from Ivey Business Cases and soon will be available through Harvard Business Publishing as well. The case study explores the strategic challenges facing small, private colleges with largely tuition-driven revenue models, with a focus on this particular Catholic institution in North Carolina. The case study is well-suited for courses in strategic management, as well as for those interested in issues about the future of higher education in the United States.

New Case Study about Trader Joe's

David is a senior fellow in Executive Education at HBS and a classmate of mine from graduate school.
